Training for Public Safety Telecommunicators is exceedingly important as they provide essential lifesaving services to the public.
In 2019, CECOMS applied for and successfully obtained the APCO Project 33 Agency Training Program Certification. This certification provides a formal mechanism for public safety agencies to certify their training programs as meeting APCO American National Standards (ANS). CECOMS is proud to maintain this certification and is committed to providing the highest level of service to citizens of and visitors to Cuyahoga County.
CECOMS's training program also strives to help Cuyahoga County PSAPs prepare for and maintain compliance with the State of Ohio's PSAP Rules and Procedures (OAC 5507-1-01 through 5507-1-19).
Our agency is staffed by personnel who are certified instructors in Public Safety Telecommunications (PST), CPR, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Communications Training Officer (CTO), Police dispatch, Fire dispatch, and other job-specific skills.
Training on core topics (PST, CPR and EMD) is offered at regular intervals throughout the year. Training on other topics can be provided upon request based on a PSAP's needs and interests.
All courses are provided
FREE OF CHARGE to
Primary PSAPs within Cuyahoga County. Staff from other PSAPs in the region are welcome to participate at the rate of $85 per person. Each class requires a minimum enrollment of 5 participants. CLASSES MAY BE CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF ENROLLMENT.
