Auto Title Division


The Fiscal Office Auto Title Division processes titles for motor vehicles, including automobiles, motorcycles, ATV’s and limited off road vehicles, mobile homes, travel trailers, campers, motor homes, watercraft, and certain boat motors.

Types of Titles

Original Title
The first title issued to the new owner of a vehicle.

Duplicate Title
Replace a lost, damaged, or stolen title.

Replacement Title
Make a change to an existing title.

Memorandum Title
Also known as a “Memo” Title, this is used as proof of ownership by the titled owner solely to obtain vehicle registration.

Salvage Title
When the vehicle is a total loss or when requested by an insurance company or the vehicle owner.

Rebuilt Salvage Title
When a vehicle was previously salvaged but has been repaired and inspected by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Court Ordered Title
You must live in Cuyahoga County to obtain Court Ordered Title from Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. Please reference the laws regarding Court Ordered Titles:

When you have been informed by the Cuyahoga County Auto Title Division that the evidence submitted for your motor vehicle/watercraft is not sufficient to meet the requirements of title issuance by the Cuyahoga County Auto Title Division, you will be requested to obtain a court order from Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court – Civil Division.

  • Your petition must be completed prior to filing.
  • There is a $250.00 filing deposit that is collected by the court when your petition is filed.

Cuyahoga County Court Ordered Title Information Packet

Manufactured Home Titles 

In order to transfer title to a manufactured home, it is mandatory that the Auditor and the Treasurer in the county where it is located verify that all property taxes have been paid. The Auditor and the Treasurer will stamp the title endorsing that taxes and the transfer and conveyance fees have been paid. These stamps must be obtained at the County Administration building.
