Energy Management

Picture of Solar PanelsThe Energy Management Unit provides cost effective quality energy in an effort to bring all Cuyahoga County facilities into compliance with government standards and to optimize the use of taxpayer's dollars. This supports the mission of the Department of Public Works and the County through a set of measures geared at the judicious and effective use of energy to minimize costs and to increase savings.

The County is working to bring energy savings and continued sustainable practices to the County through installation of solar panels on three County owned buildings. The installation began in the Fall of 2019. The solar panels are expected to yield a total of 1,147,000 kilowatt hour (KWH) of energy. The panels would account for 13% of the total load for the Animal Shelter, 3% for the Medical Examiner's Office and 25-30% for the Harvard Road Garage.
